Shelby joined SA Law Chambers Solicitors in October 2023 as a Paralegal within the Crime Department, after gaining over a years’ experience in criminal defence practice. She is also an accredited police station representative and attends police station regularly. She primarily handles matters in both the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts, involving serious and sensitive offences such as serious assaults, possession of offensive weapons, drug related crimes and serious sexual offences. In addition to her criminal law work, she provides valuable support to the Mental Health team.
Shelby was Called to the Bar of England and Wales in July 2022 by the Honourable
Society of Lincoln’s Inn, achieving a grade of Very Competent in her BPC. She holds
a Masters of Laws in Bar Practice (LLM), awarded with a Distinction in 2022, and
graduated with a First-Class Honours in Law and Criminal Justice (LLB), in 2021.
She works closely with Solicitors and Barristers, managing her own caseload under
supervision. Her responsibilities include attending clients both in-office and at His
Majesty’s Prisons (HMP), taking clients through evidence, advising on the law and
taking instructions to prepare proofs of evidence, bail applications, and other legal
documentation. She also liaises with experts, Courts, and other professionals to
ensure effective case progression.
She has experience working with vulnerable individuals, including youths and those
affected by mental health issues. Her empathetic and understanding approach helps
guide clients through the legal process with care and professionalism.
